I recently came across some very old Winsor & Newton water colour cake sticks whilst visiting a car boot sale, after some assistance from the paint makers Winsor & Newton it has been confirmed they were produced in 1951 and appeared in their annual product catalogue of that year. (see photo at end of this article)
I could not resist trying them and was amazed, delighted to discover they are far superior to todays water colours and have remained in perfect useable condition with excellent pigmant qualities.
With this in mind I have decided to put them to use after 60 years, I will be producing a limited collection of 10 original works which will make up "The 1951 Collection" finally putting these beautiful paints to good use.
